TRAVEL INFORMATION

By plane

International Airport Brno Tuřany has direct connections to London/Stansted (United Kingdom), Eindhowen (Netherlands), Munich (Germany).

 To reach the conference venue, several options are possible:

  • By public transport: Bus line No. 76 to Brno main railway station (terminus), then change to tram line No. 12 (direction "Technologický park") and  take two stops to "Šilingrovo náměstí". The travel time is about 35 minutes. For one journey you need the 3-zones ticket valid for 90 minutes.
  • By taxi: A taxi station is close to the Terminal. The journey to the meeting venue takes cca 20 minutes and fare can be up to 400 CZK (16 €). CITY TAXI phone: +420 542 321 321.
  • Uber is still not available in Brno.

There are two other airports near, Prague (approx. 3 hours) and Vienna (approx. 2,5 hours)

From Prague Airport:

  1. By bus - take the bus/underground from Prague Airport to Florenc station and change to bus going to eiter Brno Grand Hotel or Brno Zvonařka.
  2. By train - Take the bus AE from airport to Prague main train station and change to expres EC or RJ trains to Brno.  The tickets can be purchased in advance on the website of Czech railways .

From Vienna Airport:

  1. By bus - direct bus goes 10 times a day. For precise departure information see: Student agency
  2. By train - take train from Vienna Mitte to Vienna Hauptbahnhof and then change trains to Brno.

 

By train

Brno main train station in in the very centre of the city. Trains from Vienna, Hamburg, Berlin, Budapest and Bratislava stop here. To reach the Conference venue from main train station, you can use public transport - 2 stops by tram line no.12 direction "Technologický park" to the stop "Šilingrovo náměstí". Or use the taxis parked in front of the station.

 

By bus

Bus lines stop either at "Grand Hotel" which is close to the main train station or at "Zvonařka". From both you can reach the Conference venue by public transport, tram line no.12 direction "Technologický park" to the stop "Šilingrovo náměstí".  Or by taxi which are parked nearby the station.

By car

Currency

The Czech currency is Czech Crown (CZK, local abbrev. Kč). Czech Crown is fully convertible to EUR, USD, CHF, JPY and many other currencies. In hotels, major restaurants and shops, credit cards (e.g. Visa, MasterCard, AmEx etc.) or EUR are accepted as indicated at the entrances. The Czech currency can be obtained from ATP using your credit or debit cards as well as in many exchange offices in the town, or in banks elsewhere.

Climate

Brno is located in the Central Europe and both Atlantic and continental circulation influence the weather. In February, based on current weather forecast daytime temperatures should be around 0 °C.
